To protect the public health and prevent the potential spread of coronavirus, Vernon Township will be reducing services and limiting public access to our building beginning Monday, March 16th.
We are working hard to ensure that resident services are not interrupted during this extraordinary time. Our food pantry will continue to operate with a drive-thru setup where residents will have food brought to their cars so they will not need to have any unnecessary public interaction. If a resident is unable to get to the food pantry during this time, please call the township to make arrangements.
Our PACE Dial-a-Ride bus will operate as usual without interruption during this time. We do ask riders to use extra caution and cancel their rides if they are feeling sick or experiencing symptoms.
During this time, we are unable process applications for passports (please reach out to the Libertyville, Lake Zurich, Deerfield or Wheeling Post Offices for passport application appointments). We also cannot offer parking passes for the Prairie View Metra Station (please use the daily pay boxes in the lot).
To make arrangements for other Township services including the Medical Lending Closet, Emergency & General Assistance, Camp Payments, etc., please call the Township offices at 847-634-4600, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm. We will update this page with further information as events develop and when we plan to resume all services.
Until further notice, our Prime Timer Club, seniors that gather for lunch and cards on Monday afternoons will be cancelled. Please check our website or Facebook page for information on when meetings will begin again.
To help prevent the spread of germs, the CDC recommends avoiding close contact with people who are sick; covering cough and sneeze; avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth; and washing your hands with soap and water. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
