Vernon Township has installed a youth sized cricket pitch (58m with a 3.65m x 20m pitch) in the center of our athletic fields.

We ask that all users of our youth cricket pitch follow our athletic field use rules as well as the following these cricket pitch specific rules:
- Regulation cricket balls that are made of leather and/or hard materials are prohibited.
- Only tennis balls and cricket tennis balls are allowed.
- A permit is required for league play, competitive play, or any play with 11 or more players.
Vernon Township Athletic Field Rules
Our athletic fields, including baseball fields and the cricket pitch, are available for community use with a valid permit. Please review the following rules before submitting your rental request.
Eligibility & Permits
To receive the resident rate, at least 50% of players must reside in Vernon Township.
A current roster with player addresses, parent names (if applicable), and contact numbers must be filed with Vernon Township (confidential and for residency verification only).
Applications must be approved and permits signed by a Township representative. Permits are valid only for the dates and times listed.
The official field schedule, posted at 3050 N. Main Street, is final. Only permitted times are guaranteed.
Permits are specific to the group listed and cannot be transferred.
Insurance & Liability
All user groups must provide a Certificate of Insurance naming Vernon Township as “additional insured” with a minimum of $1,000,000 liability coverage.
Permit holders are responsible for their team’s actions and their opponents’.
User groups agree to indemnify and hold harmless Vernon Township, its officials, employees, volunteers, and agents against all claims arising from field use.
Vernon Township is not responsible for damage to vehicles parked on Township property.
Cancellations & Credits
No refunds will be issued for user cancellations.
Credits toward another date will be given if:
Cancellation occurs at least three (3) business days in advance, or
A rainout occurs (credit applied the next business day).
No refunds will be given for unused credits.
Facility & Equipment Use
Team managers or assistant coaches listed on the permit must be present at all games.
Portable restrooms are available near Fields 2 and 4. Township buildings are off-limits to players, coaches, and spectators.
Field users must repair and restore fields after activity.
Driving on bike paths or grass is prohibited.
Vehicles must park in designated lots only.
Conduct & Safety
All participants, spectators, and visiting teams must follow Township rules.
Disorderly conduct, littering, or property damage may result in permit revocation and denial of future permits.
No smoking, alcohol, or unauthorized sales are allowed on Township property.
Sound amplification systems and unauthorized advertising are not permitted.
Gambling is prohibited.
If fields are excessively wet or unsafe, no organized sporting activities may take place.
Users must immediately clear the field if:
A ThorGuard Red Alert sounds (15-second horn or blinking strobe),
Lightning is observed, or
Thunder is heard.
Scheduling & Use of Fields
Permit holders may not remove other users before their scheduled start time.
Unpermitted times listed on the schedule are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Permits may be revoked if rules are violated.
